Will my trailer be too small?

As mentioned at the weekend I have just bought an unbroken 3yr old horse.

He isn't coming home to me until about June (after being broken in) but when he does, I will want to take him for short rides in the trailer to get him used to it.

I have an Ifor Williams 505. Because my current horse stumbles on left hand corners, the partition is out and I have a full width breast bar.

Now I know that the 505 should carry a horse up to 16.2hh but will it be a bit tight for a baby who has not been in a trailer before?

He is approximately 16-16.1hh at the moment.

I do have the option (financially) to change to a larger trailer but don't want to run to that expense if I don't really need to.

Thanks.

i think he will be fine! theres always more room than stated in these trailers! i have the 510 supposed to take 2 17.2. fit wise my 18hh fits perfectly has more than enough room, with the partition! only thing you have to really watch out for is weight, which im sure will be fine!
