(sorry very long winded title ) I have a pair of premier equine sports boots and have heard many different reviews , one woman said that they will damage my horses legs because they will heat up if I do more than a small hack , will it damage him if I wear them for fast work - long periods of hacking , cantering , jumping .???? cheers gwn

I have found the sports boots heat up the legs far less than just a standard pair of brushing boots, ive used them as hinds XC with brushing boots on front and the fronts were very sweaty with the sports boots being far less sweaty/hot. However I think doing lengthy periods could heat the legs up but i mean 3/4 hrs of work as have had mine on for 1.5 hard schooling work and I have been really pleased with them. Put it this way id prefer to use them than a normal pair of boots.

I always ride my boy in these never had an issue although personally i wouldnt jump in them unless it was the odd jump after schooling, if i knew id be jumping i always wear tendon boots as they offer much more strike protection should a back leg hit the front :)

I tend to avoid using them in summer as my horse is very active and does tend to get hot legs in them - however I use them at this time of year and into the cold winter for schooling and have never had a problem. I think it depends on your horse but as long as you keep an eye on them then you should be fine. Agree with the above though, I personally wouldnt jump in them either as they don't offer as much protection as tendon/fetlock boots x
