Hi everyone. Rose is due to be scanned tomorrow to see if she is in foal. I dont hold out much hope as when they scanned her to see if she had ovulated she still had some fluid. They dosed her up with Oxytocin but its unlikely she is in foal so we are going to try again. She had to have her season brought on with Regumate last time. Is it possible that she won't come into season again or now that she started cycling should she continue ok?

If they have to start with the Regumate I think I will forget it this year.

If she has stopped cycling for the year, then Regumate will not do anything. Regumate will not "make her" cycle or come into season. It works by suppressing estrus, and the related behaviour. This allows you to have a certain degree of control over when she ovulates. Normally, mares will be treated with regumate to prevent ovulation. A dose of PG will then destroy the corpus luteum which initiates the short sequence which leads to ovulation.

If she is still cycling, she will continue with or without Regumate. If she has stopped cycling for the year, Regumate will not re-start her.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear - she was on Regumate and he PG to bring her into season - which happened. My fear is that due to the weather and any other reason which caused her not to cycle before may do the same again.

Will keep my fingers crossed for you for tomorrow. Isn't it so frustrating when you've done everything you possibly can, and still no foal?!
Don't fear the worst yet...she might just surprise you tomorrow!

Thank you so much - unfortunately the stud have been too busy to call and although I have left a message have not come back to me so I'll have to wait until tomorrow. How frustrating! I dont blame them - understand they're busy!
