Two of mine are on a concrete yard atm...
One v sensitive to mud, other has wounds healing after being hit by a car.
The yard is well gritted due to the weather.
They do have undercover area which has a 12x12 straw bed with mats in it. But they prefer to stand on the yard with their heads over cover eating the hay....
Will the grit harm their hooves in anyway? (unshod)

It won't harm the hooves other wise there would be MASSIVE signs to everyone riding on the beach DO NOT GO INTO THE SALT WATER!

Dogs however should have their paws washed daily and stopped licking their paws!

A paw plunger is ideal for this.

If you are worried, wash the horses hooves and seal with kevin bacons

all our yards are salted and gritted and the horses spend loads of time on them overnight with no problems. They've done this for years with no problems.

If your WL's are not very tight and there is a lot of grit you could just run a hoof pick around them to make sure there is no grit stuck in there.
