Do you have newborn photos and full body pictures? It's quite hard to tell from the photos you have posted though I'd say yes as her colouring looks quite mature and she has sort of goggles.

I'd go the opposite way and say no. Buckskin foals often have that deceptively 'goggle-esque' look around their eyes, and I don't think she's hyperpigmented enough for a grey.

Hmmm glad to see I wasn’t the only one undecided! I like to think I’m quite clued up on colour genetics but this one was really confusing me.

Pending a test she will be mine, very excited! Not ready to be weaned until Jan so plenty of time to prepare.

She is Akhal Teke x Andalusian (pb) and is breeding and looks wise everything I adore. Fingers crossed all goes to plan.

Oh my god that sounds like an amazing cross, congratulations! Is she by Kambarbay by any chance?

:inlove:

Gorgeous, what a lovely cross

I'm going for not grey as I would have expected black legs but will look forward to the test results

Can you explain why they often have goggles please? :)

They don't have goggles, but buckskin babies often have darker hairs above and below their eyes that create a similar appearance where they meet the lighter colour covering the rest of their faces and rimming their eyelids. It's been mentioned a few times on the Equine Color Genetics page on Facebook.

I didn't know there were many Akhal Teke about. Wouldn't it be cool if her coat went golden shimmery like an Akhal Teke's

Little update, test came back g/g - so negative for grey. Obviously very pleased, deposit paid and will start a new thread soon to follow her progress.
