Yep, same one that colicked, but I know nothing. The wording sounds a bit weird though, doesn't it? Usually they say straightaway if the horse is ill or injured... Gutted for him though, hope they bounce straight back...

this is what horse and hound said!!\.............William Funnell and Cortaflex Modriaan have been forced to withdraw from the World Equestrian Games

William Funnell has given up his place in Britain's WEG show jumping team, as his team horse Cortaflex Mondriaan is not sound. The pair was due to travel to Germany on Sunday 26 August and represent Britain at the World Equestrian Games, Aachen (28 August – 3 September).

Cortaflex Mondriaan, became unsound at the Dublin Horse Show (9 - 13 August) and was taken to the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket on Monday for MRI scans.

Although Funnell is still waiting for some results to come back, he has decided on balance not to take Mondriaan to WEG: “The welfare of the horse is my number one priority,” he told H&H on Monday

The pair has been replaced by Nick Skelton riding Lisa Hales' Russel.

glad he puts his horses health first!!

Didn't it have to be one of the five original riders named for the squad - choices would be limitted if that is the case.

The horse is lame - no diagnosis (or prognosis, obviously) yet, but it looks as if horse will be out for rest of this year.

I feel so sorry for both of the Funnells at the moment with the WEG, they both seem to have a bit of a down turn in luck for the both of them. Especially a shame for William as I thought he deseved a chance on a team, I'm glad that he was sensible with the horse's health!!

Yep, I too feel sorry for them both, Pippa has had nightmare after nightmare after with her horses (still don't think she has ever really got over having to retire Rocky), they had a family bereavement and now William has missed his big chance. God knows that PF has her critics but surely nobody can fail to feel for her and her husband now. I for one will be putting any former bitchiness aside and cheering them both on with all my heart.
