Some of you have followed a thread where my young ID gelding bronco'd my instuctor off while she was breaking him and I need to find somewhere to take him for some more constant schooling... Well I took him to Rowebuck Stud in Isfield, East Sussex and this is my first proper update since he arrived there a week yesterday.....
Mum and I have been to see Wills this afternoon. Basically they loose schooled him in his tack in a small arena, they made him canter round both ways to get out some steam. Then the guy Elliott just got straight on and started to trot him round, then off he went taking Wills into canter.. and not a bronco in sight! Elliott said that he wasnt used to going forward and that this is what he needed to learn to do. Then we were taken to the large school where he took him round again in trot then into canter and Wills was good as gold.. Intermittently Elliott would get off him and then get back on and immediately ask for trot to get him used to having standing still when mounting and then moving off straight away when asked.
I tell you one thing, my eyes nearly popped out my head when Elliott jumped off him to remount and he just jumped on him from the ground!!!! and bless him.. even though Elliott (not a tall bloke) have to shift a little to get his leg over, Wills didnt even move! Now I was impressed
So I said that Ill ring later in the week for another progress report and pop over to see him. Elliott said that he might get him over a small jump too, so its looking good!
