William Whittaker wins world cup qualifier in Belgium

He has the talent, style and backing to go right to the top. He will soon eclipse any of the other Whitakers, of his generation, very quickly if he continues like this.

2012 olympic showjumping gold anyone care to place a bet!

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL! Although that does rather depend on him having he right horse underneath him too. I'm not sure Uncle Mike will be ready to give up his top ride for his home Olympics...although Uncle John will probably have retired from the top flight by then so maybe he could help out ?

Anyone care to give odds on an all Whitaker team for London though !? Say...

Uncle Mike
Ellen
William
Robert

No, I reckon John will make it to one last 'home' olympics, but I can't see robert or ellen getting there tbh, I think John, Michael and William, I suppose robert to finish them off!

What about John !!!!!!
I have been dreaming about winning the euro lottery and buying a top horse for any of them to ride. I reckon we stand a very good chance of an all Whittaker team for both 2008 and 2012. Can't see William making 2008 despite the talent and not sure Robert has an Olympic standard horse yet although I would love to see him there on my fave horse Lacroix.
Can you imagine having Christmas dinner with that family. Bliss !!!

I was also very impressed with his riding/attitude at Olympia. I also read somewhere that John rates Peppermill as a potential Olympic horse...he's only 8 or something isn't he?

I completely agree with you....

I remember him when he was in Juniors riding Colton Maelstrom.

Perhaps they should start cloning Whittakers ????

He is young for a top horse. I remember reading an article where John said he has to watch because Peppermill jumps him out of the saddle sometimes and I saw that a couple of times at Olympia.
William's quiet style impressed the hell out of me and that Puissance was something you don't see very often. My OH went mad with me because we were watching it in bed and from expecting him to have it down after he just made the previous round I was screaming with delight when he jumped clear. Not very often that I get to scream with delight in bed these days I can tell you !!!!!

LOL!

For 2008 i'd say he was a cert...so long as Peppermill stays sound and well. I just think 2012 may be a couple of years beyond him...but then who would have had him down as a 2008 contender until last summer

Peppermill has given him a new lease of life but we must remember that the horse is still relaively inexperienced at the very top level. On his day...unbeatable...but still has a few green rounds from time to time.

I agree with the above, apart from Robert, I really don't think he's that great. I'm fully prepared to have my head bitten off here but I don't think he's in the same league as the rest of his family.

I'm not a huge RW fan either....but you can't argue with his results at Olympia this year and he's been doing well all over really

Heard that he now has he ride on Animation. She was taken away from Tim's yard pretty quickly.

that is interesting as was still with Tim at Olympia, will be interesting to see if it is true or not. I do admittedly have a soft spot for the mare as used to compete against her she like to follow what she is doing...
