My pony has kind of liquid filled squishy kind of things (like really thick veins) on the inside and outside of just above his fetlock joints on his hind legs, somebody at my yard suggested that they might be wind galls.

Does anyone know what these might be?

Sorry no pics, but they're kind of raised lumps, not particularly warm and he isn't lame at all so I'm not sure whether I should be worried or not :(

Thanks

Wind galls themselves don't usually cause many problems but you have to remember that the fluid you can feel is synovial fluid from the joint capsule and it's an indication that all is not well within the joint. Take a long hard look at your horse's work, weight, fitness, age, diet, conformation to try to limit any problems that are brewing. I'd maybe start him on a high quality joint supplement such as Cosequin too.

The wind galls you're describing are more likely to be from the flexor tendon sheath than the fetlock joint. Bandaging will help reduce them but you only need to worry if they get hard or hot.
