Wind Problem

yes, constant noisy breathing, been off work all summer- made his liver really bad at one point. ventipulmin and steroids have improved his lethargy but i can still hear his breathing. currently on a fittening programme to see how he copes with the work, tho he has just cut his leg so i still have to take it quite steady.
why, do you have a horse with noisy breathing?

i just brought a young horse to SJ she passed a full vetting but when worked her at home she made a noise in canter - roaring/ whistling.

Had her scoped and she has very slight paralysis on left side. dont know weather to take her back or not as shes a really nice mare.

sorry to hear about your chap sound like athsma - i lost my lad last year to that he had it for 5yrs finally got him in the end.

HLB - if you google roaring in horses and find a good veterinary site, it should help. I guess it depends what level you want to get to with her but my understanding is that this can affect the horse's ability to work and surgery to correct it is (a) flipping expensive and (b) no guaranteed outcomes. How in god's name did she pass a stage V vetting?????

Vet said that is not so bad so cant really operate, its most like a lazy larynx as it moves but not as much as the right one - i got chance to see it.

i have had no reply though from the peeps i brought her from so i may have to keep her anyway.
