Anyone tried this one?

There was a thread 2 years back on different pads and their make-up with lots of input when this one was reasonably new out so wondered if anyone tried this one and had any comparisons to the VIP pad which has seemed to be really popular

Thanks

In theory the Winderen should be good, XRD is brilliant, but I've not been impressed by the one I saw, I have an Invictus in stock which again I'm not overly impressed with. VIP is okay, it's a proven material but I still prefer a good sheepskin (Mattes, Christ Lamfelle) as a starting point. Some people find no difference with a VIP and the odd horse doesn't like them.

How does thinline half pad compare? https://www.thinlineglobal.eu/shop/...ads/thinline-trifecta-half-pad?v=79cba1185463

I tried the VIP - I felt it made a big difference but horse not fussed either way by it. What I did find is that it showed a slight asymmetry and moved terribly under my saddle so I returned it. I'd be interested in trying one again once we've evened up.

Jen Hegeman of the Truth Tack Review rates them, she stands by their performance figures so even though there's no publicly available testing as there is with the pads made from proprietary materials (XRD in various pads, Akton in the VIP), apart from that which they have had in the past on their site, I rate the material. Not found the perfectly designed pad from them though, for my uses.

Does this style not work for your uses? High wither cut, spine free, dressage cut, non bulky. https://www.thinlineglobal.eu/shop/...ads/thinline-trifecta-half-pad?v=79cba1185463

For my market I don't like high wither anything, and these pads, IMO, the design is okay but I much prefer a single numnah with relevant padding or lining, at £165 with no sheepskin, needing a numnah, and a shimming system that I'm really not keen on, plus shims cost extra, not going to work for me. The single pocket means things move around, I prefer trimmable felt shims that are cheap to replace if you need different shapes so I can contour the shims into wedges etc. Just the other day I trimmed shims to sit in the back of the front pocket to curve around the points, not under them, I have ultimate versatility with Mattes and its shimming system.

I wanted to update this thread, for more traditional English saddles I would probably still go for sheepskin (in my case Mattes), on balance, but am using the Invictus under more forward balance saddles and can see the difference for some horses for sure. These saddles don't play as nicely with sheepskin apparently, but I've not had a chance to really compare and contrast when I don't have my own horses!

I’m using Mattes and under my dressage saddle and thin line half pad under my jump saddle.
