Hi all,
Question - would wearing boots/bandages help in keeping my mares windgalls down, or will it make them worse.... or nothing at all??

I appreciate they will never go, just looking into the best ways of managing them, so any advice greatly received please.........

Thanks :-)

The SMB II boots I have helped keep Old Mares windgalls down. I used to douse them in cold water for 5 mins after strenuous work and left them on for about 10 mins and then took off. Stable chaps over winter helped.

Interestingly, they seemed to not be quite so prominent when I put her on a purely forage based diet (fast fibre was the only processed feed she got, and only a cup dry weight a day for minerals etc) and cut out all introduced sugars.

Thanks....... I shall look into the SMB II boots. She lives out so stable chaps not really suitable :-/

She is currently on practically a forage only diet (except supplements).

I was wondering if there was anything she could wear when being ridden that would help, or is it purely for after work?
