Window guards or something, cat owners?

Our cats aren’t indoor cats but we do have them in over night (Ava is an indoor cat just now but won’t be )
This is because we had one run over at night and Arlo went missing for months as a baby so we like to know he’s in and safe.
He seems happy enough with that. He’s always home in the evening and sleeps in our bedroom, never asks to go out after about 8pm
He does however have this horrible habit of leaping from upstairs windows. He will do it even if all the doors are open, regardless of the landing below! He’s been very lucky a few times landing on things awkwardly.
He lands like a tonne of bricks.
So last summer we kept our upstairs windows shut. Or shut him out of our room in which case he scratches and meows all night ( I say meow, yowl would be better)
Someone said you can get window guards to open windows but keep cats in
Does anyone have any recommendations? Are they safe? Especially with a kamikaze cat?

Amazon does cheap mesh kits designed to keep flies etc out, but they would work to keep cats in if they were just casual opportunists.

I have one of those cheap mesh stuck to velcro taped to the wall around the window things, in the window in my Summer cabin that doesn't open up in to the cat enclosure. I use it when I want to open that window in the Summer without the cats being able to get out, however it's only a small window, and none of my cats have to my knowledge really tried to kamikaze their way out through it.
Even though I wouldn't be surprised if it did hold, it's much stronger than it looks, I'm not 100% sure it would hold for such an attack. If my memory is right, it said something on the package about how many kg and/or force it could hold, so to be blunt, maybe it depends on your cat's weight, and his preferred kamikaze style.
If he's a bit more robustly built and/or runs to the window to kamikaze, go for a mesh made to keep cats in, but if he's a more dainty cat who kamikazes from a standstill, perhaps it's possible that a cheaper option could work.

I’ve heard good things about the brand ‘Flat Cats’, thought I’ve never used them myself.
I considered Cat Flats for Cassie Cat as she is a very voluptuous (aka horribly overweight!) Personage.
I researched them and their reviews were consistently excellent. If required, they can make them to specific measurements, as I would need one for the post-box shaped galley window.
In the event, Carrie is a very wary cat and has, so far, only manage to negotiate the saloon and the galley. She's been sitting in the aft cabin doorway at 0430hrs to indicate that breakfast should be served "Noooow!"
Cat Slave duly obliges at pace.
All then to return to their places of repose and go back to sleep.

I've seen some beautiful indoor vented shutters on a house near me, am considering trying to find some as we have a lot of cats so don't dare leave windows open wide. No idea where they were from but they look just like outside shutters with the slats but fitted internally 😊

We had our shutters fitted by John Lewis! Took some time to arrive, but in JL's defence they were stuck in the Suez Canal for a little while.
