With the professional coming on Thursday to help with Chico I have been thinking about making the trailer as nice for him as possible,

I am considering having windows put in the two panels on my Ifor 505 - the panel above the jockey door, and the panel above the front ramp.

Just interested to see if people find their horses prefer the extra light and view or if it doesnt really make much difference.

Thanks :)

I have a 511 with sliding windows on the sides and large window in the front - my über nosey, 'curtain-twitcher' of a mare spends all her time gazing out of them! She was a nightmare to load, but with help from Richard Maxwell, we have turned the corner. I think having a large light trailer has helped me with my homework; I am pretty sure RM would have got her loaded into a ford fiesta, but when it's down to me I can use all the help I can get! :D

Good luck!

My current trailer is a 510 which has windows on both sides and one in the front. Previously I had a slightly older version which a previous owner had had an additional front window put in below the standard window in the front of the trailer. The second window definitely made the trailer look more light and airy and more inviting for the horses.

Absolutely go for it! I have an old Richardson and was having a few issues with travelling. Among other things my mare would stamp and get agitated whenever we stopped at junctions and traffic lights and was getting worse to load. The trailer did seem quite dark and it was very disorientating not being able to see out of it when moving (I did the naughty thing of going in the back with her on a quiet country road to try and see what was going on). I had a local chap come out and put in two polycarbonate windows in the front of the trailer (where the modern ones like Ifor 511s have them halfway along the top panel) as well as replacing the existing window which had crazed with age. He even put silver trim which looks great. The windows are super strong and won't crack or craze. The difference has been amazing. I have a reversing camera in the trailer so I can see what she's doing and I can see that she now spends much more time looking out of the window instead of getting agitated and doesn't stamp when we stop any more. Its so much lighter, even with the back flaps closed and it made it much more pleasant. It only cost £20 a window to do as well - worth every penny!
