We are thinking of going to Windsor Horse Show, we have never been before and its somewhere where I have always wanted to go. I would love to hear from anyone who has been and the best place to stay. We will be travelling by Train, when I say we I mean my Husband my seven year old daughter and myself.

We were wondering if it is best to stay outside Windsor and travel in?

Thank You in advance.

There is a travel lodge and a new holiday inn in windsor both walking distance not sure on prices as i live in windsor so never had to use them. Theres also a toby carvery with a lodge attached to it in old windsor, that has a bus stop right outside which could take you practically directly too the horse show its prob 5-10 minute journey in a bus, or prob about a 5 quid taxi drive away. There also lots of b&bs about. You could stay slightly further afeild but i dont think the price varies that much. Sloughs probaly the cheapest to stay but personally id rather pay that little bit more i think.

Wndsor is usually v expensive for accomodation, but you might find somthing to suit budget in Windsor or in Eton (probably slightly nearer) . My advice would be to also look at Datchet or even Staines as this is on the line to the Windsor & Eton Riverside station which is just a 5 min stroll from the showground (the main Central station is about 10-15 mins walk and uphill on the way home). I think Datchet is the last stop before Riverside, so not far.

Lovely show, I am looking forward to this year as on the Saturday my daughter is competing :D

Edited to say the St Christopher Wren right by the bridge to Eton always has a good reputation, might be worth the extra, and is just about the nearst you can get (7 min walk)

Book ahead and you can get some good deals. If you do stay in Slough, get somewhere near the station, the train from there goes direct to Central station in Windsor and it is about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the horse show.

There are some lovely B&Bs in Windsor itself though.

We're staying in the Slough Travel Lodge this year as I'm competing on the Saturday. It is still only £22 Friday night compared to Windsor Central Travel Lodge that's upped it's prices to £137 for the night!!!
Saturday night, Slough is £60 but Windsor is not bookable so must be full. Langley is also nearby and that's fairly cheap as well

We are staying at the Langley Travel Lodge, not competing this year just a birthday treat for 3 days of watching and shopping!!! Really looking forward to it :D

We have stayed at the Oakley Court a couple of times. It's a gothic Victorian hotel where a lot of the hammer house of horror films were shot. It also has a nice location by the Thames. It's not cheap but a bit different.
