Currently el gingero ponio is getting her face stuffed with feed though not high energy. She's not yet 7 months and I know its the last 3 months that you up the feed. She is maintaining nicely and is in great condition but not fat.
She's getting gold label chaff stuff at the moment, along with a lo-cal stud balancer, a tiny amount of stud mix instead of the usual economy mix, and speedi beet. Vet suggested something high fibre as she has a bit of a sqitty tum so she's getting high fibre pellets too. The chaff is the lowest cal stuff about, no mollasses, and mainly for bulk, so she doesn't go out on frosty grass/ next to no grass with an empty tum every day.
I'm mindful of the fact as the foal gets bigger, there is less room for feed to fit in and she's only a little mare really, so I was thinking that if I keep the balancer and speedi beet, but if I change the chaff to something like equilibrium growth, I can cut the stud mix and fibre pellets and feed less of an amount. Plus the Winergy stuff has a pre/pro biotic whoosit which might help the tummy issues.
Would that make sense to anyone?
Oh she gets linseed/garlic/parsley oil stuff too... probably why she stays shiny with little brushing
