Thank you - am slightly concerned as it seems to be good for calming but I really don't need calming just sparkle for a lami! Spillers have recommended it based on Patricks history so I may give it a go.
I would be suprised if you needed much more than the low energy to be honest. That has been fine for my laminitic doing about the same work as yours.
I use the growth version instead of the medium energy as it is cereal free but has high levels of oil instead (but I suppose that is of more use for stamina generally than sparkle!) One of my friends horses won't touch the growth though (happy enough wiht the low energy though)
my 3yold is about to go onto adult bal, and am unsure of what to do mayb you could help???
i love the idea of this feed in its huge fibre content. my friend feeds the low energy on her horses with gr8 success my only concern i have is that it is fed in huge (at retailers rec) amounts and i can only feed twice a day, y is it such huge portions??
I use it for a horse that tied up a few time, she was on Senior and Growth to start with, but has moved on to Medium with my other TB, I really do recommend it, all four of mine are on it and doing really well. It is worth giving it a go........Let us know how you get on.........
Its a fibre based feed and as such is higher in bulk than traditional concentrate feeds. One of mine was on 4kgs per day but another is only on 2kg. remember you don't have to feed full rations if you don't need the energy requirement, but remember if you are only feeding half rations you are only giving half the daily recomended amounts of vits and mins. therefore use 1/2 rations of a good allround supplement (Benevit, D&H Surelimb etc) Splitting it into 2 feeds should be fine so long as you are not feeding massive amounts.
I have my lad, Darcy, on the medium and my mare on the low, works a treat on both of them. They both have 'useful' energy, and seem to be able to concentrate on their work a lot more. They love the stuff too. I feed them nothing but the Winergy, no supplements or anything else and they are doing really really well on it.
I tried it for a while after an episode of azoturia but found it hideously expensive to be honest. I now have the winergy calm energy mix and mix it with just grass (D&H) and a glug of soya oil. My horse can be a bit of a spooky minx but this seems to work pretty well and she looks stunning (but then again, I would say that!)
I think it depends what you were feeding previoulsy as to whether or not the Winergy works out more expensive or not. My 2 are TB's and in work 4-5 days a week so previoulsy they were on about 5kg of feed each a day (Calm and condition, Fibrebeet, Alfa A Oil, Oats) , plus added vit supplement/feed balancer, soya oil and linseed to help keep weight on, plus a calmer when needed - now I give them both 3kg of Winergy a day and nothing else, yes its a bit more expensive a bag but all in for me it works out cheaper - and my horses are in much better condition with it.
