In the last couple of days I have noticed windgalls have developed on the hind legs, am gutted as they are very obvious and I show him, albeit at local level, these unsightly things were not in place a week ago as I check his legs every day. He is 14 years old and very low mileage, he's never been worked hard and has been in regular exercise, the only thing different is I now live in a very boring road only area so have been doing more in the school but ever excessive. Has anyone any ideas, remedies etc on how to either decrease the size of them so they are not so obvious oror

The ground is very hard at the moment so if he is galloping round when turned out this may contribute to them, also the constant turning whist schooling will be a factor.
Resting or lighter work will help them settle as will softer ground when it rains.
You could get some cooling gel and use after work, cold hosing or icing can help.

Yeah that makes sense, I have nowhere but the roads to ride on whereas up until last autumn I was living on the moor, I do very little trotting on the roads and mainly walk on them - unless I have to trot to a
pull in, that and the schooling could possibly be a factor.
