I was just wondering if Winkburn Park in Notts would be suitable for a first PN run this season, should have survived 2 intros by then! Is the ground normally well prepared and are there any tricky fences...corners?? Or spooky SJ's?? Thank you!!

I did it about 3 years ago and I'd say its ok for a first time run. I think there is one corner but it has an alternative, generally it's quite strait forward.

Can't remember the show jumping being anything out of the ordinary... some of the ground is on stubble and was quite rutty when I last ran there.. shouldn't be as hard this year though!

Generally, its a really nice event!

I really like Winkburn, its a nice evnt, the Sjing isnt the "centre" of attention, although has the XC run past it. The XC is lovely, a bit twisty through the woods, but generally very nicely built and the course flows well! If my boy had had more runs Id have now worries about running the at PN there

I did it as my first ever ODE - the PN there about 4 years ago, horse couldn't even canter a circle and i'd never been XC and we survived!!

I should be there for the novice, it's v low key. Did the PN 2 years ago on a horse which had had a 'blip' and had SJ issues and got round clear XC and 1 down SJ. The alternative for the corner didn't waste much time, the SJ was fairly small. It was a hike to the dressage but I believe they've changed that since then.
