Winking

I cannot find any info on this on the web hence my question. Do mares continue to wink when they are pregnant. Fed my mare this morning and after she urinated started to wink. Is it something they do ad lib or only when in season confused as i have never seen her winking so much before.

Know someone will have all the answers.

My mare will always wink after having a wee, she did it even when she was in foal - I think its partly to do with her fastidious nature, she also won't wee in her stable, prefering to scream and shout until she is taken for a walk/turned out.

I have one of my mares winks all the time, right up to the time of birthing. Just a personal thing for her I suppose

yup my mare does it too and shes overdue!!!

Perfectly normal after they pee - gets rid of the drips I suppose!!!

They will also do it when angry and when in season - although not all mares do.
