Does anyone have any opinions on this saddle or the 500? I am a bit of a snob and prefer leather but really like the idea of the changeable gullets...any thoughts??

I have a wintec 2000 - selling it actually as I lost the horse it was for last year. Loved it. Very comfortable. Very lightweight. Easy peasy to clean. Found the 500 not so comfortable when I tried it.

I have the 2000 but not cair...... such a comfy saddle, sadly the saddler recommended a 17" one for me and I cant put the stirrups up high enough to jump without loosing my knees over the front of the knee rolls!!! So daughter now rides in it!!

Also had a 500 dressage with cair and hated it so much i sold it after 5 rides in it!!!

The changeable gullet will only change the front end of your saddle, the back will always be a medium. Had one for a year, wouldn't entertain one near my horse again personally. Just my opinion though.

Wetherbeeta, who are the UK agents for Wintec, told me I'd be better off buying Albion or Ideal instead of Wintec!

I have the Wintec 2000 with Cair. I love the changeable gullets although I personally prefer the brown as it IMHO it looks a bit cheap in black, particularly if you don't look after it. For the price of them though they aren't bad saddles and when you are in the saddle they don't look synthetic.

A friend of mine has a Bates saddle which is leather but has the changable gullets and she says it is the best saddle she has ever had, yet she hates the Wintec saddles! I'm currently saving for one

I have a Wintec 2000 Cair, it fits both my boys, with different gullets in, so Im really pleased with it.

My bays main saddle is his dressage one, so although I prefer the Bates, I used to have one, I cant justify the money really!

I also used to have a wintec 500, hated it.

had the bates & didnt like it, have the 500 & while i really like it the 17" is just too small for me

This is exactly what my saddler said this morning! The cair in the saddle moves about in the wrong way (not as it was designed to do) and only the front of the saddle can be changed. He now doesnt stock them as they always get brought back.
I would only try a wintec if your horse is medium or M/W otherwise the back will be wrong. I would also only go for a flocked saddle. Saying that I have just ordered a M/W flocked leather Isabell as im having real problems finding a saddle to fit the worm!

I've got the wintec 2000 with cair... I really like it, its comfy, leightweight and it fits well (my horse is medium, 18")....

I prefer it to the 500 for looks, but have never ridden in a 500, so cant really compare!

All the things I am hearing about cair makes me wonder if I should have gone for a traditional flocked one though (I have used tham in the past and would highly reccomend them for all shapes and sizes)....

I love the gullets, hate the cair !
With flock you can get the saddle re-flocked and put flock where you need it, with the cair the "padding" dissapears just where you need it.
Love synthetic, hate tack cleaning !
