Hi. I’ve recently gotten a Wintec 500 saddle for my new young cob. It wasn’t my first choice of saddle, but all the saddle fitter had that fit his awkward shape within my price range. Anyway as it’s cheap and he seems comfortable in it, I thought it’ll be an ok option for the moment until he stops growing and I’ll eventually get him a custom made saddle. Anyway as I had to get a 16.5” seat when I’m usually in a 17.5” seat, I have little knee support. My horse is a sharp spooker, so I would like to feel a little more secure during a spook and I’ve heard you can buy alternative large knee blocks for the Wintecs. I can’t find them online, can only find the standard small ones which the saddle already has. Can anyone link me to the large ones? It’s a GP saddle.

If the saddle is already too small for you then bigger blocks will give you less space. I would try smaller blocks, placed up above your knee, try taking the ones you have and rotate them so that they poke out the front of the saddle but sit against your thigh. If your knee can lie flat against the saddle then you'll feel more secure, a block that is too close to you, or too large, or both, will push your knee away from the horse and destabilise your leg and your seat.

Ultimately velcro is velcro, and most blocks will work on most saddles, unless Wintec is an exception.

You can buy blocks on ebay. They dont have to be branded Wintec. I replaced mine with different style and its much better now.
