VSD is straighter cut at the front.
GP has slightly more forward cut pannels.
I have hoofing gert long legs and a really long hip to knee...i was borrowing a VSD untill i got my new saddle, my knees came right over the front of the knee rolls.
a gp saddle is slightly better for me although my new saddle is more jump cut so my knees actually rest in the knee rolls, heaven :-D
re cair or flocking.....i have no idea i always have leather flocked saddles as i dont get on with synthetics, they hurt my back for some reason!
I have a vsd - but I'm a little short a**e! I agree that it rather depends on the length of your legs. The Cair does tend to be a bit on the hard side - there have been numerous posts on here about it.
They are very different "in the flesh"; I was comparing older models, but despite my long legs really, really hated the position, feel etc. from the GP and yet got on well with the VSD. However unless I ride nice and long my knees to start to come over the front, especialy when I shorten up for jumping. It will be "horses for courses" I think!
I like my Cair (and more importantly 3 different horses seem to have done too), but a lot of people seem to have problems with it. That said, these people all comment on how "hard" the Cair is, and mine feels like a perfectly flocked saddle normally does, so I wonder if I was lucky!
