wintec 500

I like mine and it fits my boy nicely, have ridden in it nearly every day, jumped, hunted, done dressage in it but I know there are some people who don't get on with them, depends on the horse, I suppose. There's 3 others on my yard with them and I don't think any of us have had a problem, but they can be a bit 'perchy' to sit in, if you know what I mean.
I bought mine, a brand new brown 17' one with CAIR (which, again, I know some don't like) and adjustable width, for £300 inc fitting a year and a half ago.

Second hand would be about £100 for one in good condition..... but you would be better going for the wintec 2000 as it has a nice suede seat (as opposed to the hard slidey 500 one) and leather girth straps, the 500 has horrid synthetic ones which crack and need replacing fairly soon..... and will cost you the difference you will pay.

Damn, wish I'd known about the 2000 when I bought mine - after a 7 hour pleasure ride my bum was a bit numb yesterday!

I said then that I wish I had a seat saver.
The synthetic leathers on mine are fine at the mo - am a bit worried about them now!

We use one on the Highland and so far so good, my novice daughter gallops about in it no probs and the changeable gullet is good. I would say the seat is no more slippy than an ordinary leather saddle.

depemds, I loved the gullet system on mine, so convenient, but HATED riding in it. I went for the wintec close contact jumping saddle instead, I'm selling it on now if you were interested??

I have a VSD version. Love it. Straighter cut than a 500 so more suitable if you ever want to show or do dressage. I used a heather moffet seat saver for a while but that's now on my leather w/h saddle. My friend had a 500 on her cob. It fitted him but for some reason it wasn't nice to ride in on him???

I have 2 horses now and it fits them both. Brilliant!!!!
