I started one of my youngsters in one and it was fine. However I'd only ever had one synthetic saddle before and I really didn't like the weird static-like feeling with the equileather on these. So nice saddle, but I would always prefer a second hand Bates leather version.

Yes, I agree I love my Bates, but my sister can't afford to spend £700 on a new saddle as we can't find a 16.5" 2nd hand Bates

I have a Wintec and don't mind the material at all, so just depends on personal preference I suppose.

I can recommend the Wintec Pro Close Contact, it has a suede effect seat and is really secure to jump in. I have been really pleased with mine. I used to be a bit of a synthetic saddle snob but now have a wintec isabell dressage saddle and a pro CC.

I have a Kieffer dressage saddle and a Devoucoux Chiberta for my other horse but actually prefer the Isabell!

I had one (a Cair) and I loved it. For all reasons. Light, no cleaning, adjustable, comfy for me and the horse, AND not one person ever said "Ugh, is that a SYNTHETIC?"

I would have another one in a shot if I needed an English saddle again.

I had one on Sol (up until 2 weeks ago) and I really disliked it , I felt I had no security in it atall and that wasn't great on a spooky spinny 4yo

I hate hate hated mine! Knee roll isn't forward enough for my long legs, the cantle much too high for jumping a decent height. The fake leather has no give in it, and gives a nasty bouncy feeling to even a non-bouncy horse....

not my cup of tea at all!

I've got one to and completely love it! i've had mine five years now nd wouldn't swap it for anything! nd as for the cantle being to high to jump a decent fence on, i disagree totally as i regularlly jump 1.20m in mine nd it keeps me on board when my little [****] bucks after his fences, i moved my knee roll block further forward so i can dig my knees right in too.

I love mine, I normally have problems to find a comfy jumping saddle as I have relatively long legs, but find it gives me a really secure feeling, and is flat enough that I do not feel like I am sitting on the cantle if I am riding at cross country length.
Same as Pootler, I used to be a real synthetic snob and only bought this one as a 'make do' saddle for my current horse when I first got him, but would definately have another one.
I have even had conversations with people whilst riding out about synthetics and they have said how much they do not like the look of them, and then commented about how lovely mine is !! .. they looked a bit shocked when I told them what make it was :-)
Super comfortable and secure, super easy to look after, lovely and light and wimpy thin skinned, hypersensitive Trakehner no longer has any issues with his back

Just for info.. Mine is a pro close contact, the suede on this is much much better than the standard fake leather material... have sent you a PM with a link to a German company I used.. not sure how much they are in UK.. but you might be able to get one cheaper there

moose, think the cantle would be fine if i wasn't so LONG - my knee to hip ratio is absolutely ridiculous, and unless the saddle is FLAT as a pancake, I am not happy jumping big in it!

I had one, my friend called it my bin lid!!
But i liked it, have ended up with the Bates version now which is even better!!

I am now looking for a 2nd hand 17.5" synthetic Wintec CC for the youngsters as I don't fancy using my dressage saddle on a just backed 4yo.. not sure i'll have the same grip as the jumping saddle!!!

I LOVED mine on a chunky 16hh MW absoluteley amazing. Its fitted most things but never felt as good. was ok on a 15hh Anglo and on my 17hh WB TB but lifted a little. very good on the tabletop back!
