After a whole heap of bills coming in and my boy needs a new saddle, I was thinking of purchasing a Wintec Close Contact Saddle that he can use for a couple of months before going ahead and buying him a decent jumping saddle.

What are everybody’s thoughts of them? When I used to own a wintec many moons ago (I think it has been at least 15 years since I have owned one) they were very slippery! But they were much lighter than leather saddles. Are they still like this?

Also, if anybody can recommend a place to find a brown secondhand one (apart from eBay), that would be great :)

Why apart from ebay? There was a brown set on there when i was looking in the wee small hours. £125 cheap for saddle, matching new bridle, leathers, bent leg irons etc - obviously it's an auction so it depends what is bid but it looked pretty reasonable and no bids so far.

I used to have one and as long as the wintec trees fit your horse well, they are good little saddles. I have to say I prefer the new wintecs and the wintec pros that have the equisuede as they are not so slippy. The wintec pro jump is lovely if you are after a synthetic saddle

Thanks Zoon - I will look out for the Wintec Pro as well. Quick question, do you find the close contact quite a slippery saddle still? Have Wintec improved from when they first launched many years ago?
