im looking at getting a dressage saddle for my boy as we are doing more now, but i cant afford a posh leather one! i have seen the wintec ones and wondered if they are suitable for a horse that is tricky to fit saddle to, his leather gp saddle is fitted and needed lots of flocking. and are they comfy?

Buy a Thorowgood one much nicer

I have one of these and it is absolutely fine and has lasted years - but if i had the same money to buy another one i would go 4 a second hand leather from ebay or somewhere similar - just a better quality dressage saddle with more prominent knee rolls to help my position further - i have ridden in quite a few different ones and the larger the knee rolls the better i ride as it holds your leg back in the right place and its one bit of me then i dont have to worry about correcting! The inserts in the wintec arent ideal for me - you may be different though.

i prefer bigger knee rolls to push my leg back as it tends to go forward, just off to local saddlers to see what they have got.

Actually, I love the Wintecs. My horse was working Advanced Medium before she injured herself and for most of our training we were in a Wintec and she was lovely in it, we only changed as it was getting sooooo old and battered and she'd changed shape so much for the millionth time, that we took the plunge and got a leather one. Saddle is still being used on a friends horse and is looking great even though it's about a hundred years old (well ok thats a little exagerated) but yeh I loved it. Get one =)
