I have bought a wintec 500 brand new saddle of a woman whose horse sadly passed, she was quite old and confused so I soon realised it came without the two outer gullet screws. The two main screws keeping gullet in place see there just missing two outer screws :(
Ive bought "outer gullet screws" for a wintec saddle offline but they are simply screws and small washers, do they simply just screw in? What holds the screws in place do I screw them from under saddle up or do they screw in from under the stirrup bar? Really stuck and confused :(
The one wintec supplier near me doesn't have any so I'm seriously stuck!
And help be very grateful

My Wintec only has one set of screws that really hold the gullet in place - I'm pretty sure the other screws are just the screw in d rings that hold the flaps together and in position... Just going off memory though...

The screws seem to go through the gullet and into special nuts on the underside. It sounds as if you have the screws (and washers) but no nuts. The screws are cross headed and the nuts are quite thin and flat so they won't rub. A bit difficult to explain but it sounds as if you need those nuts!

Do you know where I can get the nuts?! I literally can't find them anywhere! I emailed Wintec over three days ago now and they haven't replied!! I don't think they sell them cause I can only find screws and washers :(

I must say it drives me nuts (!) when suppliers sell you exensive equipment but can't be bothered to support their products by continuing to supply some small item that should cost pennies but renders the item useless without it! Shame on Wintec!

So I've done an extensive search and, you are right, the screws are unobtainable. Your best bet might be to buy a gullet on Ebay with screws included, then put the gullet back on Ebay but keep the screws! It is the nuts which are used in sadlery and they have a spacer to stop them pulling through or compressing the leather.

Anyway, I have done extensive research and the screws are called "Chicago screws". The nuts have an integrated spacer as you'll see if you do a Google for images of Wintec screws and then compare them to images of Chicago screws. If you could get the dimensions of a genuine Wintec screw it doesn't look that difficult to get a Chicago lookalike. (So why haven't Wintec done that?).

Google is your friend! And don't forget, it is easier searching images than for words.

I bought mine off eBay as I bought a second hand saddle with screws missing - they must have come complete as I remember being v proud of myself repairing it quite easily and better still managed to sell the saddle for more than I paid a year later 🙂

Well, I've sent a rude email to Wintec! :) Why can't they source their own damned Chicago screws!

I had a similar problem with a farm machine not so long ago. It requireda special type of bolt as a wearing item (shear bolt). When pressed, the distributors found me one bolt. I finally sourced some in the USA. Why didn't they do that? Sometimes I despair at British business. No wonder we are going down hill fast!

You won't buy Wintec screws off Ebay or from any Wintec agents. There are simply none around.
