With a very glum face I have to admit defeat for my WOW on current horse - it fits, but a combination of my diminishing ability and his rather large movement and I’m getting pinged about far too much.

Given his temporary nature in IHW household he needs a cheapy secondhand job.

Having ridden in the Isabell years ago I remember I liked it, and the suede type material and deep seat would probably suit me well on this horse.

I’ve got my eye on one, it’s the newer model. Anyone know how they fit?
The one I had years ago was on a full TB and I remember it didn’t go quite so well on the next Horse I put it on, which had a rounder profile.

Horse is a hunter type (Welsh x tb) but seems to have the almost perfect back for fitting - not too flat/curved, clear wither, decent shoulder. Currently in a borrowed MW K2 jump and it sits beautifully.

I have had my boy in an Isabell Werth for years (maybe 12 or more?). I can't remember which gullet it has in it, probably XW, but it fits him like a glove. He is a 16.1hh flat backed, chunky IDxConnie with a big shoulder (but not big movement). Even with his rather rounded frame I can mount from the ground without it moving (not that I do that often!). It seems to go against your experience above, but hopefully it helps?! Mine is the older, flocked model.

Thanks miniscam, I noticed the one I saw on eBay is from a saddle dealer with a 30 day return option, so have bought it given I can send back if it’s not right. This one incidentally is flocked too

I have an old one that I used to use to back everything. I never had a horse object to it. Never used it on anything very broad and flat, but it was good on all manner of hunter and tb types

If you're talking this sort of shape - the Isabelle fits really nicely!

The only horses I couldn’t fit them to were a Suffolk x and Spanish, they were both similar shaped short backs with huge shoulders.

Hopefully it will suit then Aus. My chap not quite as broad/deep but not a dissimilar back profile

He likes "deep". I call it fat!

He took a 36in girth with the Isabelle as the girth straps are quite short, but a 32 with his new Jefferies - worth bearing in mind if you buy one.

I had one on a welsh d cross tb and it fit her brilliantly. I loved that saddle and im hoping i can get a new one to fit the fluffy one next summer when he is fully back in work.

What plate is he in?

Mine is in a wintec wide with a x2 plate, the one up from the white plate. The shape of the wintecs really suit him but i dont think the isabelle will go wide enough for him

He's not as wide as he looks - the Isabelle red plate (W) technically fitted him perfectly, but he was actually happier in a white plate (XW)fitted with a sheepskin half pad.

In the wintec wide mine should be in a white plate but he goes lame LF if we do. The 2x wide he is perfectly happy in.

Will speak to the saddle fitter when he will be getting a check. It would just be nice if we could have one for him
