Just bought one of these, which only came into the UK in early October and wanted to review it for others looking to buy one. I put mine onto my 14:2 irish cob and it fit on the red gullet without even needing to use the riser system. Previously she had been in a Thorowgood T8 Cob Dressage also red gullet.

Looks: This saddle looks tidy - it has unusually shaped flaps and is a deep black colour.
Material: The equisuede is grippy - I like this, but some may find it a little too clingy.
Fit: Nice wide channel and low profile panelling. This saddle is a good solution for those low withered cob/haflinger types, but would also fit the more regular shape of horse. The riser system opens up a whole new concept in saddle fit.
Weight: About right. Not as heavy as a leather saddle, but not as light as the regular synthetics.
Ergonomic Stirrup Bar: Great that it can be easily slid along to suit your leg position.
External Flexiblocs: The whole reason I bought the saddle. I love the security of these as my horse is unpredictable and I hack in hilly terrain. Some may feel wedged in, but there is a slight adjustment on them too. The saddle keeps me central, balanced and feeling secure.
Have never previously ridden in Cair, but it feels comfortable and my horse took to it immediately.
All in all, not a cheap buy at £809, but worth it to have a saddle that can be custom fit in every way you can think of and will adapt to all disciplines.

thanks for this-hadnt seen these before. seem lighter than the winter stock saddle? sounds like a possibility for a young Exmoor I have-shame they took out the D rings though!(I know can't please all the people all of the time lol)
would also say that for long hacks, I am not keen on grippiness but like the look of the blocks as have two youngsters coming through and live in the side of a hill..

They are extremely popular here in NZ where they have been available for a couple of years. People who hack and do trail or endurance use them, some even do low level dressage in them. My local saddler said they are her best selling saddle at the moment.

I have friends who do endurance at pretty long distances and they all rate it. I just want a nice saddle thats comfortable for horse and rider, that puts the rider in the right place and isnt massively heavy to put on and off so it sounds like it might fit the bill :)
