Wintec Saddle Fit Looks Odd

I bought a Wintec saddle for our ageing pony as I sold his usual saddle ages ago when we thought we were going to retire him. However, since he is full of bounce and loving life, I thought a lightweight synthetic one would be ideal for the occasional ride out.
It has the changeable gullet, currently fitted with wide one, which he is, but when I tried it on him last night it looked odd. I do have pictures, need to find out how to load them I guess, but in the meantime I'll try to explain.
Personally I don't think it fits and I don't know if an extra wide gullet is going to rectify it. I have kept the packaging to resell if needs be, but it might just be me not having had one before.
The gap between the pommel and his wither I can get four fingers between and when the girth is done up reasonably tight, the saddle doesn't move about. The cantle is slightly higher than the pommel, but not a lot. The back of the saddle sits before his last rib, so it seems to be in the right place.
It has a cutback head, but it seems quite close to his shoulder blades, which worries me as I don't want it to pinch him. When he is standing square, there is enough room for me to just slide my hand down the front of the saddle.
However, the girth straps are not lined up behind his elbow, they are probably about 2 inches behind, and if I put the saddle in the right place for the girth, then it is over his shoulders. I was going to try it out today with the girth further back, but I am worried that as soon as I go down a hill, or even up, the saddle will slide and we will part company. I also don't want him uncomfortable. His last saddle was a GFS VSD, very comfortable for both of us, but very heavy and always looked too big on his pony back.
I was going to get a bareback pad from Buckyou, but I changed my mind, now I am regretting it.
Thanks for reading, I am in the dark here.

I appreciate that, but I'm not looking for a new saddle for him, just not sure about the position of the girth tbh. I bought the other horse's saddle off ebay after being told by my saddle fitter what I needed and I've never had an issue and have had it checked. I just want something to put on him when he goes out a few times a year, literally. :)

So were you told that this particular Wintec was what was needed for this pony?
.

Holeymoley, I do but no idea how to load them. Cobgoblin, nope, just need a lightweight saddle to ride a few, like every three months, round a short ride. It fits in all the right places, having over the years had several saddle fitters out for several different horses I know the obvious signs to look out for, just concerned that the girth is slightly further back than I'd like, so wondered if this is an issue with wintec and that it may not suit his shape. Not a problem, I can sell it on. But if anyone knows of any common or otherwise issue with the position of the girth, I'd be grateful.

Can't see the pics I'm afraid.

I don't have much experience of Wintecs but I don't remember anything odd about girth position when the saddler tried one on my horse. Do the girth straps hang straight down?

I bought a wintec a few months ago to tide me over until I got a saddle fitter out, I can’t say there was anything different with the positioning of the girth or girth straps I’m afraid. They’re a lot flatter than the previous model though.

Thanks for all your replies. I checked the saddle on the other horse and it’s much straighter on him, plus his fabulous saddle is a decent fit for the older one. Ridden out in it, one happy and forward going pony, so if needs be I’ll use them this way round for the few times we need two saddles. ?

Daughter has been down and we've used both saddles. I need to buy a seat saver for the Wintec, my poor bottom! I'm clearly spoilt with my own saddle, but both horses behaved well and no signs of rubbing or uneven sweat marks after an hour's hack. I take on board about the saddle fitters being much the best option and when she's out to check mine in a few months, I will have both checked anyway, but it would seem the problem is solved for the tiny amount of time I will need two saddles. Thanks for all the comments, much appreciated.
