Am still looking at saddle options for Murphy - long story short: I have a wintec wide for him, but it doesn't put me in a very good position and I get unseated a lot when we jump.

My saddle doesn't have any knee blocks which is really not helping me at all, so I'm thinking maybe some new knee blocks could be a cheaper and simpler option than a new saddle.

Have had a look for the wintec knee blocks - and frankly they look pretty small and a bit rubbish

Could I just get some generic knee blocks/are there others that would fit? I need some big solid ones

Any thoughts on this?

Sorry for the deluge of saddle posts from me at the moment, I'm just a bit confuddled and stressed about it all!!!

same, i have a synthetic with knee blocks, the ones that just velcro on. I would say though, watch out, my sister put the wrong knee blocks on hers (too big) and they broke some of the stitching on the underneath of the saddle flaps by pushing them out too much.
i presume it is the velcro ones !?

try ebay or robinsons, also have you gone straight to wintec suppliers they might come in different sizes, thorowgood i should think also make them

it is the velcro ones, yep.
I spoke to my local tack shop who looked up in the wintec catalogue - looks like they just do standard (small!) ones for the GP saddle, and separate ones for the jumping saddles which don't look like they'd fit on to mine.

argh!! Perhaps I should just duct-tape myself to the saddle instead!?!

i find that the jods with the suede patches on the knees help too. Or rather than buying a new saddle, if you plan to do lots of jumping maby you could do a part exchange on a saddle more suited to jump in. We exchanged a regular GP for another GP that just had a little more/slightly differently formed knee rolls for regular riding to include jumping. Sort of a half-way to a jumping saddle!! In the end to get this saddle we loaded her into the lorry and took her over to a master saddler with a big stock, it was sooo worth it, best saddle we ever have ever had as she fitted it for the rider as well as the horse and what we wanted to use it for.

Hi, the knee blocks I find are quite useful, I have a wintec close contact saddle am wondering what to do with, pm me if interested x

Jess - I'll ahve a look at the thorowgood ones

Charlie24 - I'm thinking I might save up for a bit and then do as you suggest - if I get some knee blocks now hopefully it'll bridge the gap until I can get a good GP saddle that helps to put me in a good position

Luna_tic - standard wintecs don't fit my pony as they're too narrow at the back, I think the close contact would be the same.
