Good Evening,

Has anyone had experience of finding that, although the gullet of a wintec saddle is the right width, the panels seem too tight? I have read that you should be able to run your hand from top to bottom underneath the panels behind the shoulder - is that right or did I dream it?? I can get my hand underneath but it does seem to be a very close fit - is that normal?
Would the wintec wide be better or does that just offer the wider gullet sizes?

Thanks!

what type of horse do you have - a wintec wide is really suitable for flatter backed horses with low or no withers. The shape of the panels are flatter on the wintec wide compared to the normal ones that are mors suited to sloping loins on TB types. Yes you should be ables to slide you hand down the front with equal pressure all the way down but it could be fairly snug but not pinching.

From memory I *think* it's the white extra-wide one - there is a good 3 fingers cleance between pommel and withers.

He is a IDxTB type - he is pretty flat and wide so maybe it is just that this is the wrong type of saddle for him. I just thought that as the current gullet size seemed good that a wider gullet would make the saddle sit too low?
