So with winter fast approaching, can I get some recommendations for some really warm yard boots? I'm not a fan of country boots particularly, I'm looking for something that will be used for general yard chores, so doesn't necessarily have to be great to ride in, just super warm. And preferably something quite hard-wearing as if they're as comfy and warm as I'm hoping I probably won't take them off all winter!

I love my ariat windermeres! They are super comfy, water proof and good for hacking in etc. very warm as well! Didn't have cold toes at all last winter. Plus, if something goes wrong, the ariat helpline are very good and will fix or replace them. My first pair I didn't take very good care of so they started leaking at 6months so I messages the ariat helpine and they sent me a new pair!! These have lasted much longer.

Can I hijack this thread, rather than start a similiar one - I hope you don't mind OP?!

Can anyone suggest a good winter riding boot? Mainly for schooling/hacking and around (although under is better!) £150?

I really like my Woof Wear long thermal boots - although I had to wear fairly thick socks in deepest winter, they were cozy and so comfortable. I love the fact the legs were velcro - so can adjust depending on how many layers you are wearing!

Thanks Rowy, I've heard good things about Ariats and I've been tempted by them before, I might well give them a go now. I'm desperate for something really warm as I really feel the cold in my feet terribly in winter.

NativePonyLover, feel free, I'm not having many responses as it is, but maybe you'll get some useful suggestions :D

I just bought toggi canyons for riding and chores and ariat grasmeres for good. Very happy with both. The toggi's required some breaking in but the ariats were great from the start. Ariats 179 inc delivery on eBay. If I could only have one pair I'd chose them.

Sick of reviving my toes each winter, I shelled out on a pair of muckboot tynes. Heaven!

I did ride in them but a bit bloody uncomfy so stuck to my toggi's. Bought some ariat windermeres recently but not tested, glad to hear they are rideable-in :)

aren't the mountain horse rimfrost rider made for riding in? I had been looking at them and considering a pair - but do you think they are too chunky? x

I've got Ariat Conistons for winter riding which are so warm I cant wear them in the summer and I have some MH Rimfrost short paddock boots which are very warm but very rigid so they aren't comfortable to ride in.

Just Togs Mudruckers are the only boots that have kept my frozen ice block feet warm. You can get riding versions of them too. They're really hardwearing and I can't recommend them enough. Fab!

They are made for riding in, but I feel they're too chunky- the sole is really thick, and the boot is quite wide. I wouldn't ride in them. I have the paddock boots- not sure if the long ones are different.

Love ariat grassmere, they are pricey but I bought four pairs of boots at £80-100 a pair. They all fell apart after 3-9 months. I got a refund on my last pair which were Dublin boots, then went straight to my local saddles and bought my grassmeres which I should have bought all along.

9 months and they are still going strong, they haven't been cleaned only hosed off now and then and still going strong.

I wear my insulated Ariat Bromonts for everything (except going thru deep mud/water-wellies only for that&then quickly swop back into bromonts).

I live in my muck boot co boots in winter. Feet never got cold even in snow. They do a riding version as well. Would never buy the just toggs version again as mine split 3 months after buying. My budget wont stretch to ariat boots but they seem popular!
