Do they exist? I would love to be able to splash out on some Pikeurs, but can't run to it at the moment! Are there any other winter weatherproof breeches that don't cost an arm and a leg?

Has anyone ever tried washing good winter weight breeches in Nikwax waterproofing? Does that work at all? Probably not... :(

I wear caldene belgrades (£27 if you can fit into the kids ones) and a jack murphy bush coat (£39) which keeps the rain out long enough to ride 4 horses in heavy rain....

I wear same old breeches more or less all year round and then add full length chaps for winter - suede for cold, waterproof for heavy rain.

Have a check out around for prices - mine were cheapy second-hand suede and special-offer waterproofs (I paid around 30 quid total for the two)
