Right, very simple - I can't decide what to do!!

I am taking 3 horses down for the finals. I am competing 2 on the Wednesday and 1 horse on the Thursday.

I am currently planning on going down on the Tuesday night as I will need to ride Ronnie and Bill Wed morning, get Bill and Val plaited and compete Bill and Val in the afternoon. Then on Thursday I just have Ronnie to do.

BUT, the stabling runs from 12 til 12. My class isn't scheduled to start until gone 2pm. I was planning on going home on the Thursday night. But I'm not sure its pratical to have to leave Val (Stallion) and Bill (a nutter!!!) standing on lorry for however many hours whilst I compete Ronnie.

Having no experince of Hartpury I don't know how strict they will be on stabling times. Solihull were fairly lax!

I think I know that I need to book stables for the Thursday night also but I'm just not very happy as its going to cost me £225 for stabling alone for 3 nights, another £99 on entries, plus £100 in diesel, plus £75 on yard cover.

Any ideas?

what about staying near by and travelling in??? trying to think of yard for you......

but pm mat_b, his close

They all usually say vacate stables at 12.00 but not that many people pitch up at 12.00 for a competition the next day, you would be quite unlucky to have to vacate both stables by 12.00, won't your other two stand for a couple of hours on the lorry or is the stallion feeling spring is in the air!

At a push could you pay for one extra stable and put one on the lorry whilst you compete or would the one on the lorry kick off?

I don't know how far you are from Hartpury (guessing 2 hours from Shrewsbury) ... could you not take the two who are done on Wednesday home after competing and leave Roni to compete on Thursday?

Should still be cheaper than additional stabling?

We're 3 hours from hartpury so not really viable to take 2 home on Wed, especially as class doesn't finish till 6.

Have just spoke to organiser and she says I could take the risk but that the stabling manager will be going round kicking out at noon, and that Thurs and Fri are their busiest nights.

TOG - maybe yours is the best idea so far.

Although I am sort of thinking, maybe I just pay for the stables and stay the night rather than travelling home late at night and then do a leisurely return journey on the Fri morning.

As for the stallion, he is covering for the first time in a few weeks and I wouldn't like to leave him tied on the lorry when he knows what fun he could have with all the ladies!!!

When I went to Solhiull they were pretty relaxed, as long as nobody else is booked for your stable. There are 190 stables ... you may have to find out nearer the time.. ie. 20th March when all the entries are in, or possibly ask for day box they may do cheaper?? At Warwick I did not vacate my box until 3pm, but asked them and because none was in that box after it was ok,,, then again there is still Frid,Sat,Sun night too so you may not be lucky....... then again weigh up how much diesel to take them home etc....maybe worth paying for extra boxes...it only happens once a year!!!!! Thankgoodness!!!

organiser said they have 600 horses scheduled to be there over the show and that thurs and fri are busiest nights so I think I may just bite the bullet and book the stables. Then I can either drown my sorrows or celebrate with a drink or 5 on the Thursday night!!!

Especially as I will be opening my business soon so won't be able to have days off then!!!

Small world, my friend has moved back to Oswestry!!!!!!!! what is your company called... I will have to ask her if it is near her and recommend you!!!!

It's going to be called Taylored Equestrian!!

We are still in the process of building, hope to be opening in about May.

When we are nearing the time of opening maybe I can get her contact details off you and can send her some info.

Also if you are at HArtpury I should have some info packs done by then so I could pass one on then?
