Winter coat

My horse has gone from looking lovely and shiny with his summer coat to dull as his winter coat comes through. He has had a cushing’s test which was negative. This happens every year. Can anybody recommend and feed/supplements to keep him looking shiny or anything else for that matter??? He is a young 23 yr old who is a good doer thanks xxxx

A little linseed or corn oil can work wonders for the coat. But Blackberry season vs often take the bloom off them.

This! Mine haven't got much in the way of winter coats yet, but from past experience, they always seem to look a little dull and dusty when they first come through. If he's fine in every other way, I wouldn't worry about it

The reason he is not looking shiny is due to remains of his summer coat and the way the winter coat is growing. The link to the blackberry season is due to the time of year. My daughters coloured horse grows her black and white hair at different times so she has different lengths at the same time.

My old boy would also go a bit flat at this time of year. I used to give him Kossolian blood salts.
