winter coats

Yes - both of mine do and like yours they were fully clipped and have a trace of winter coat still on their half faces, and can still see the leg lines. I find that it usually all gone by the end of June, so don't worry that they are abnormal!!

My 'hairy marey' who was fully clipped hasn't really got the same lovely summer coat that she usually has at this time of year - more like the coat she has in August/September. In fact if it gets any warmer, I'll have to clip her out again.

Nearly gone - but I wish the weather would make it's mind up. One minute I'm covered in hair and the next it's decided to stay put!!! Are we having a summer this year???

Nope, mine molted into her summer coat completely by end of March (she's unclipped, a WBxTB, so doesn't get that hairy mind you). I do find feeding well through winter and including linseed meal helps the coat a lot between the winter and summer transition. The other youngsters at our yard who wintered out unrugged and just fed crushed barley and Hi Fi over winter are still looking 'bitty' with patches of unlost winter coat (both TBxID). They wintered out with my filly, so it can only be the difference in wearing rug and being fed a better diet.
