Its absolutely freezing here in Kent, cant believe a couple of weeks ago it was over 80. I have been panicked into getting my stable winter-ready and looking out my rugs! Horses looking cold too.

it was boiling hot here yesterday (co. durham) and now it's cold again today. I'm deffo planning for it - straw ordered, thinking about rugs, stocks of pig oil and sulphur, cleaned out the feedroom..aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhh !!! sm x

Def a sniff of autumn about! Had the log burner going the last few evenings as there is a bit of a chill in the air. That said, I am so glad that it is cooler and raining! So much better for the grass and I am so sick of the flys so not so sad at the prospect of it being the end of summer already!

im in mid kent and its really cold , im in doors with heating up to the highist point and very much still fill cold . all three horses have there rugs on , my hay supply is on standby and just going to go and sort shed out to stock up with feed
mud on your boots and hay between your boobs the joys of winter , the only plus side xmas is fast approching ,

No, it hasn't arrived. I too am in Kent, working away quite happily in my little office at home with no heating on. It isn't freezing. Count your blessings, winter's not here yet.

Ice? Frozen water buckets??

It is certainly chillier in Derbys and gets cool at night. I have my rugs ready and had a top up delivered of bark chippings to keep the mud down...all ready really although I am holding off rugging until his coat comes through if possible.

:) Gorgeous blue sky and sunshine outside my window. The leaves are coming off the walnut trees by the bucketload, the maples are turning red, and I spotted long hairs growing on a horse bum yesterday. The hummingbirds are still here so Fall isn't here yet, let alone winter;)
Cooling down a bit, 17C first thing, highs of 27C forecast later but with the humidex it is going to be stuffy again.

Turnout rugs are...umm, somewhere, I'll start searching for them about December I expect, hay barns are full, I have hay still to cut.

that was quite poetic enfys - apart from the hairs growing on a horse bum bit

:D ...

Hairy bum bit is a little alarming, it is only August! I am hoping it is just because the mare is ancient. Her owner will probably have her blanketed at night a lot sooner than I do mine.

We have had two days of rain. Yoo hoo first since beginning of June and yes it is cooler but I am not complaining. Warm and sunny again today.

Update from Kent and... the sun is out and there are a few fluffy clouds in the blue sky. No snow or ice to be seen. So sod work, I'm going for a quick ride.
