Well winter is nearly here and i need a new rug for my cob.I currently have a medium weight fal-pro turnout rug however it dosent fit well across her shoulders and rubs her a bit.Probably due to her large shoulders she is a native type.Which brand of rugs are best for cobs??

I find weatherbeeta fit best for mine. I have used Masta in the past but they can be a bit narrow on the neck.

I had a weatherbeeta stable rug and found that a really good fit,the equine premier ones sound good are they quite generous in the chest .I know the weatherbeeta ones are

Mark Todd were always very good on my tank...stay away from Rambo & Rhino as the were very narrow and short but fit my TB lovely.
Weatherbeeta and Amigos were also a good fit.

I like the Mark Todd turnout rugs as find they have a good deep fit - they've also just bought a few new styles and colours for this season so makes window shopping fun anyway! Have put in a link to Equestrian Outfitters UK for you as they have them cheap at the moment x

Mels has a Masta,a Shires and a Saxon of varying weights, I find all of them excellent around the neck, although the Saxon arent the deapest rugs, so if your cob is a preverbial out house like Mels is I'd stay away from them for the really cold weather, also the combo neck wouldnt get anywhere near a cobs neck - it would strangle a TB, so dont go there!haha!
I love her shires heavy weight, and that fits beautifully, but then so does her Masta! Sorry, not much help!! x

I have a 14.3 near 15h cob, not masive on the chest but very 'cobby' I find shires and weetherbeater are the best fit for turn out rugs. Saxon stable rugs not bad either.

I have just today sent away for a shires winter typhoon half neck as with my cob if i get a neck piece i find them quite restrictive. If i was to give her a bib clip in winter would the half neck be ok?

I now have nearly all Shires typhoons of various weights for our Clydesdale and gypsy cob. They have generous neck and chest and shoulders and are fairly deep. I found the Amigos to be narrow on the neck and chest now they are six and filling out, hence changing to the Shires. Weatherbeeta are also good rugs for chunky types.

Premier Equine are fantastic!

I got my girl an Axiom rug off ebay last winter, which was a superb fit & kept her dry & warm all winter. I also got her a weatherbeeta landa freestyle which didn't fit her at all well & kept slipping. She came with a shires rug which was also very good, but got ripped to bits by her new companions ! Just about to buy her a lightweight axiom, because I know it will fit, although I love the look of this year's weatherbeetas !
