Last year I bought the fantastic Mountain Horse Rimfrost rider 2 (long boots).
I say fantastic as my feet were very warm and cosy with a single pair of normal socks with -10 degrees C!
Now, I only wore them few times as I have a weak ankle and the boot was too "rigid" for it and made my ankle hurt (a lot!)

So...I sold them on Ebay and I'm now looking for short riding boots for this Winter coming which has a similar insulation as the Rimfrost.
I have found the short boot equivalent of the Rimfrost rider 2 called Rimfrost paddock boots and wondering if they are as stiff as the long boots?

Any other recommendation welcome please as as most of us I hate having cold feet in the Winter and I don't find thermal socks warm enough!
Would consider long boots if they are warm and comfi!

Budget max of £80/90.

Thanks! :)

I love rimfrosts! I have the paddock boots but I have to say I find the back of them digs into my leg when you put heels down and can get quite uncomfortable. They still do the fab job of keeping feet warm and I will still use them till they are worn out but my next purchase will be back to the long ones. The short oneas are not as rigid as the long , so may suit you better and I dont know if its just me that finds they dig in a bit.

Can recommend Mark Todd short winter boots, boy do they keep your feet toasty. Not the most stylish but I have raynauds and they made a huge difference last winter. Just need to find some decent gloves now.

Hi,
I would massively reccomend muck boots (either short or long - I have the long riding ones). They are the best things ever! I have never had warm feet all winter, sooo comfy and although they got totally abused, they are heading into their second winter all in once piece. I needed to get wider stirrup irons are they are bulkier than my usual boots, but so worth it!

(P.S., thank you for your message, I have been stupidly busy so will get organised and get back to you!!)

That's the ones - I have the long version and they are wow!! If you have a dodgy ankle you might find hauling the long ones on a bit of a pain, but they are v comfy and not at all restrictive. I always struggle in the winter with terribly cold feet and these have fixed the problem totally! I don't even put thick socks under!

I would HIGHLY recommend Equitector short boots - Maestro model. They have a zip up front (like Ariats), are waterproof and have a special liner which keeps your feet warm in Winter and cool in Summer. Oh, and they have safety toecaps and a non slip sole. They are currently £81 and I love mine!

I have received them today! (the Tyne but not the sports ones)
I find they are quite hard to put on and take off though? Will it get better? (for dodgy ankle...)

Will try riding in them at the weekend :)

I found they softened a bit quite quickly - they were a bit hard to pull on and off at first. I've got a boot pull too which makes taking them off alot easier, and might save your ankle a fair bit of strain if it is dodgy anyway. You've got them just in time with the horrid weather!!

Really happy with my Woofwear spectrum riding boots, they are super warm and waterproof - have great traction. Most of all they are safe and comfy to ride in.

Thank you, good idea for a boot pull! :)
I think the left boot has a problem but will email the online shop I bought them from to see what they say...
The seam in the inside of the boot "burnt" a bit the top of my foot when I tried it on and took it off :-(
I tried to put it on again but can't even put my foot in completely as it really does burn it...all read now...the seam feels like it's a bit dodgy inside but then it feels the same for the other one so not sure...it's pants!
