Winter showing, Clipped or Unclipped?

Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of taking my old boy to a showing show in January. He will do the veteran class as he's 18. I haven't clipped him because of reducing his workload this year as he heads to a quieter life and I wouldn't clip him just to go showing. Is it ok to show him unclipped? He's not a hairy sort as he's half thoroughbred.
