Winter wardrobe

As I’m sat inside listening to the downpour outside I’m thinking I need to think winter clothing.
Mainly for yard activities. I was thinking about getting either overalls or some kind of full salopette that I can strip off and remain relatively dirt/hay free 🤣 but not too bulky so they can be tucked into boots and avoid the bottoms getting caked in mud and horse poo.
I need another yard coat as my wellenstyn has finally died after 13 years.
Boot recommendations welcome too. I did wellies last winter as easy to hose off but they killed my feet. I’m tempted by muck boots.
Waterproof breeches or legging suggestions welcome too

If you tuck inside your boots, the water / sleet / snow will track down inside....might be better just cutting off the bottoms, and wear the legs over the top of long waterproof boots!

I know someone (lives in an ordinary house, not on a farm) whose husband insists she strips off in the garage to avoid trails of hay seeds everywhere - keeps a dressing gown in there!
 
Deffo a few sets of overalls: if you have a look on e-bay you may be lucky to find an ex-factory job-lot of used overalls for sale there. They are perfectly serviceable, just been used in factories or whatever so may have a few stains on 'em.

If there's a load of you on the yard you can grab a bargain this way!

I started on wearing overalls when I'd gone to see this horse - and the owner had messed me around and hadn't yet turned up - and this woman had just "done" her horse (in an overall & gardening gloves with a Buff on her head) and had just got back to her car. She whipped off her Buff & her gloves; and then the overall, and hey presto there she was a glamourous lady all ready to go out for the evening!! That taught me something!! I went straight home and looked on ebay. I'll always wear an overall now, it saves your more expensive clothes and saves an awful lot of washing. And yes, very handy if you are going out!

This! I am not as organized but if you have a boot tray in the car and a decent bag for overalls, it's easy to transform. At home we have boot trays and extra high coat pegs so that farming clothes get taken off in the porch and just hung up full length. Tidy 🤣

I know 2 women where this has been listed on their divorce papers 🤣

Got to admit I am fed up of the trails of hay I leave around the house. I need a way to stop it going down my wellies.

Mine would get a reply that sounds like “duck off” once and that would be the end of it. As it is he isn’t a total weirdo and one of us hoovers it up…
 
I have a pair of Le Mieux waterproof trousers that are superb. They have thought of everything in the design of them. They have sticky bum for riding, not too baggy , zip pockets, a sort of silky lining material so easy to slide on or off over mods, reflective strips etc etc. I really recommend them.

ETA I’d love some overalls but like most useful things they are designed by and for men and I’m 5’2” and slight. 🙁
 
I have given up worrying about hay in my house. I mean, I try to keep it to reasonable levels but there are guinea pigs in my living room so their hay goes everywhere too. Don't know how, they must fling it about at night when I am not looking 😄

Generally I buy cheap waterproof trousers and cut the bottoms off so they just go over my wellies, and team those with whichever coat isn't wet through at the time. I did get a lovely warm coat in a charity shop which is now my yard coat for really cold days. It was so cheap that I don't care if it gets muddy, and it has lovely big pockets and a furry hood.
 
I try to wear over trousers/jogging bottoms most of the winter to keep my riding stuff clean but I do also get undressed in the hallway before coming into the house if very wet, dirty or muddy.

The Dickies winter waterproof boiler suit will see you through the most horrendous of cold and wet days. I use it on the farm, and if anything it is too warm but it sure beats cold wet rain running down your crack!
