The grass must be coming through allready .. i would post a picture of the nice green poo and dirty bum but im sure you can all live without that!
It s 11 degrees so ive got the rug off the minger and starting to think about jimmy choos allready!!
What a difference from last years misery!
My horse was in overnight last winter... i did nt like him stood on his own all night with no shelter. His bad manners meant that putting him out with other horses has allways been hit and miss.
This year we moved him next door ant put him in the field with five heavies and he has been out all winter.
The better weather has obviously helped but I spent a fortune last year on bedding haylage and hard feed.. he came out of the winter looking very ribby.
This year he has had ad lib haylage from a large bale no hard feed and stayed out... he looks fantastic.
I was advised to keep him out as he has copd... the only real problem is me because i feel guilty on the bad nights!

Excellent - I personally think they prefer to be out then in. I have been toying with the idea of wintering out but it would mean moving yards and me and the boy are settled here. I am slightly envious!

im only a mild weather rider so i feel like a bit of a fraud saying im a horse owner in the winter.. i just nip up there kiss his nose and check him over!
some horses might not like being out but mine has certainly thrived on it... but i must say if it had snowed he would have been tucked up with his favouraite teddy and pj s!

Ours live out 24/7 too and all look really well on it. Know what you mean about when you hear the bad weather in the night and stuff. But then again ours can come and go in and out of their stables as they like but never use them, so it is definitely us owners who whittle and worry, not the horses.

Sounds like you've found the perfect solution for your horse, glad it worked for you.

ours live out 24/7 and always look great in spring, while some people who keep theirs in have horses that to be honest dont look as good. Most horses do seem happier and healthier out.
