Wireless security for remote fields?

Ok its all a bit pie in the sky at the moment but the short story is I’m looking to rent my own land. Land is like hens teeth around here but I have possibly found an ideal place. It’s about 3 miles from home but it’s quite a secluded location. No houses in sight but the land backs on to a large restaurant and despite being fairly remote it is accessed from a very busy A road (set back quite a bit). My main concerns would be people tampering with the horses / fencing given the proximity to the road so I’m currently researching wireless security which can be accessed online or by phone.

Have come across this which looks like a possibility

And also this

I mainly want something which is going to cover the gate way and yard area. I’m not at all technically minded so would need something fool proof and also hard wearing. Has anyone got a similar set up they could recommend. Also any other ideas you have on improving security would be gratefully received.
Thanks.

This is a very interesting thread which I hope will get lots of replies as I am am really interested to know how to set something like this up.

Both products look great. However with the first product - if you are using it in a remote area, with no power, how does it work?

ALso, would either just be stolen?

Hi Lilly

Surely some sort of power is required ie rechargeable battery ?? - If its a really remote area there will probably be no wi fi connection??

If we can get up a tree to to install .............. :D

Not picking holes in your reply - just totally stumped on how to do something like this (which has been on my mind for a while - similar type of set up)

Where are the techy's when you need them:D

Again great thread

lol cronkmooar, like i said i'm clueless!

It is battery powered I think. The restaurant has WiFi so I’m assuming it would be ok?
Lets hope someone more knowledgeable than us replies!

Hi there, we use something very similar to item one up our yard when foaling but you do need power to plug in the cameras and adaptors etc but then the camera can use WiFi to connect to TV or computer etc.
Might be worth giving them a ring because theres usually a few extras needed for it to work!
A big hairy German Shepard is always a good option!
Good luck.

I'm presuming the restaurant is quite close to your yard - but could you ask the restaurant if they could supply you metered electricity? Might be in their interests too to enquire if they were looking at cctv for their car park or rear of premises abutting yours and asking if you could share costs etc?

Give your contact details to the people that own the restaurant, I'm sure they wouldn't mind contacting you if there looks like there is a problem, it's not as if they are going to have to ring you every day.

How about one of these for the gate as well as the products you are looking at.

Maybe get a few geese as well.
