I am planning on getting back on my horse this weekend after a long break (hes just been diagnosed with kissing spine after throwing me off and putting me in hospital) I have been told to do lots of lunging with a pessoa etc then get on when I think we are both ready.
So this weekend is coming and I feel its time and I am cacking myself. I am planning on having someone there to hold Tango and lead me around the school until I know he isnt going to catapult me into the air again. At 27 years of age I feel slightly embarrassed that I am now having to be led round the school BUT it helps so I think sod everyone else and what they think, he is my horse and I am going to do it my way.
I am planning on doing little and often, short ride to start with then gradually building it up.
I however am always going to have the thought in my head that his KS is going to hurt and hes going to turn himself inside out and send me fling through the air.
This is all just a test at the moment because if the pessoa work doesnt have the desired effect then he will have to have the operation (he is only 9)
Soooo wish me luck... I'm thinking I may need a little dutch courage before hand!!
xx

Good on you and don't feel ashamed! I am 33 and I had my friend walk me round the school for 15 mins when I first got on my lad after 12 months off. He had collateral ligament damage to his coffin joints and also OCD in his stifles. He did a fabulous version of Tigger but I felt so much safer with my friend attached to us both!

Good luck and I hope it goes well, oh and it is the best ever feeling once you get off to have been able to ride them again x

good luck...it will all be fine I'm sure. just walk around for five mins or so, there is no pressure to do more! then you can leave on a good note, and build your confidence. dont worry about what others think...nothing to do with them really. is it the horse in your sig? it is the spitting image of my gelding, even down to the same white legs..I had to do a double take :D

Yes it is the horse in my sig! Have only owned him for about 12 weeks and ridden him for about 2 weeks of that before I came off!!
And yes lochpearl, Tango also does a fantastic Tigger!! haha
xx

Don't feel ashamed! After I had my disc removed I had my friend take me out on a hack on a lead rope!! It wouldn't have made the slightest difference if hoss had tried anything on but psychologically it made all the difference to me.

If anyone makes a comment tell them your applying for a acting part, where you are a gorgeous women, learning to ride so you can impress Brad Pitt and you need to research the character :D

oh poor you, no wonder you're apprehensive. i'm sure it will all be fine, like kazhar said, just do 5 mins in walk then get off. better to end on a good note than push it. and no worries about being led about... in my world we can it 'anchoring'... not leading.

so, you're not being led, you're being anchored. sounds a bit more 'tough' :D

I like that term!!!! And the thought of being anchored is very appealing, haha!

Ah thanks, I think that once I am on I will be fine, as the day is looming closer though I can feel the butterflies in my tummy getting more intense!
