My little Highland mare, who is due to foal anytime now has started to bag up, not a big deal to most, but she was very ill over Christmas with what the vet diagnosed as Neuro EHV & weve been told she will loose the foal :( Im desperately hoping the vets were wrong with the diagnosis & everything will be ok, its our first ever foal as well, so on top of worring about the EHV im also stressing because im worried i'll get something wrong, though do have excellent help only a phone call away which is a big relief.
Please do keep everything crossed for our little mare.

Just incase anyone wanted to say anything about breeding, which honestly i dont really need to hear right now, we bought her in foal & IF it makes it, it will have a home here with us regardless of sex, colour, wonkyness or anything else.

Oh my! She sounds like shes been through the mill but had the best care, I dont know anything about the condition I have to say but regardless i've got everything crossed for a safe birth and a very healthy foal she can dote on and enjoy.
XXXXXXX

I wont pretend to know anything about EHV, it causes mares to abort doesnt it?
My fingers are firmly crossed for a happy outcome for you :)

Thanks everyone.

To those that dont know, it causes late abortion or if they go full term the foal usually dies within a few days. The only glimmer of hope i have is that the vets didnt send her blood away to have it tested for EHV, so there is a slim chance they were wrong with the diagnosis.
