When my horse was fine I often couldnt be bothered to ride and also was getting bored with the hacking locally. Now I cannot ride due to lameness suddenly the boring rides are seeming ever more attractive! Its different when your choice is taken away from you!

I'm with you there, I've also been suffering from 'you don't know what you've got til it's gone-itis'.

In my case, trying to summon up the nerve to ride my stresshead arab (what's wrong with me? losing my bottle!!) arab then goes down with twisted gut, has major surgery, can't be worked for three months, and suddenly all I want to do is hop on his back and go for a spin.

It didn't help that I went for a hack at a local riding school, and the cob I rode, although very sweet, was SO uncomfortable and unbalanced...ooooh give me back my lovely smooth gaited horse....I could hardly walk for two days after.

Hope your horse gets better soon.
