Been thinking this morning...

Horse has sore withers and Is being treated via physio/massage etc for it. Horse has been out of work since November, and is due to start to be brought back in (lunging/long reining) at start of March. Saddler will be coming to sort through my stash of saddles and find one that fits.

However, I have been contemplating if it may be worth getting some kind of "wither protector" to put over the withers, and help ease any discomfort that may be there. Any suggestions?

If the horse is sound and the saddle just doesnt sit as it should but isnt causing issues, then a wither pad would be fine.

However if the horse has been sore in that area and treated for it then I would say it would be better to wait and get a saddle that is absolutely right, since altho a wither pad muffles the sharpness of pressure it doesnt remove it altogether and you really want it not there with a horse that has had actual pain in that area.7

just my thoughts anyway,
