Went to see a client in Clacton today, so did a rekkie to Wix.

They expect to be using both indoor schools and warm up on grass, although not 100% decided.

Spoke to someone there practicing with their baby horse, in prep for Sat and she said in kicks off with prelims at 7.30am. Novice running lunchtime to 6pm. Going on to.......midnight

Worried - it is a seriously long journey for you! It was 50 miles from my place.
I'm hoping the late evening tests will be mediums, rather than elementary, or i will be camping there!

I don't see how they can warm us up on grass as the schedule says warm up on surface.

I quote! 'All classes & warm up will be indoors on a surface. Working in will be indoors on a surface'

The grass warm up is awful especially as it's due to be raining.

I did know it would be a long day as they always have to start early due to the number of entries.
My journey is about an hour, but I'm only doing one class so I can't complain!

I rang for a stable today and thankfully we have one for Friday night which is a relief but I'm not happy if the warm-up is on grass!!! I have no stud holes or even road nails as the closest her little tootsies get to grass is her daily turnout!
I know I am a wet fart at the best of times but I have only ever competed her on a surface I haven't even cantered on a hack!
ooo.gif

I am the second competitor is as I am bridle number 2 and my times are 7.36 and 7.50!!!!

Hopefully it'll still be indoors then. Lets keep our fingers crossed!!
Although I don't know why I'm worrying as Q went absolutely awful last night

He'd gone fab in my lesson on sat & even better when I worked him sunday, so I was feeling quietly confident that we wouldn't discrace ourselves! He then hacked on Monday & was then most unco-operative last night, so he's in my bad books. He's had today off (as I've got to work late) & I'll hack him tomorrow & then hopefully he'll be in a better frame of mind when i work him on Friday

Just spoken to Wix.
Classes 1 & 2 will warm up on grass & all others will be on a surface i.e warm up in one indoor school & do your test in the other.
On Sat they start at 7.30am and finish after 11pm

They have moved the 2 music classes to sunday, so there are now just 5 classes on Sat!

I think I will withdraw and ask for a refund there is no way I would have entered if I thought I would be warming up on grass. I'm really cross.

I am withdrawing. I have just telephoned Ardingly and the lady was lovely she said I can go there instead.
It is a much longer journey than I anticpated plus I have really early times so I think someone is trying to tell me not to bother

Oh Worried what a shame although as Finn says I don't blame you. Would have liked to meet you though, still I'm sure there will be another time

Hi,

I'm going to Wix on Saturday too - I have a feeling it's going to be a long day judging by what you've all said! I'm in both of the novice's but i'm thinking of withdrawing from the nov21 as i'm going to struggle to warm up on grass if the ground isn't great (I struggle to keep him calm enough in an arena!!), but I'll see. Will probably mean less waiting around too! (plus I don't really like nov21 anyway - so it won't take much to convince me!)
Hopefully the sun will shine on us all!
Are any of you at Hastingwood on the Sunday too?

It will be interesting to see everyones times today. lfield come and say hello to us all. I'm in navy lorry with silver stripe and I have a grey connie.

Will do, I'm in a silver Ifor with black Jeep. Oh and i'll have a nutty patterdale with me (that's if i can't get mum to dogsit!!)

I'm in a silver lorry with Yellow & blue stripe. I'm 6' tall

& have a chestnut irish boy, who I'm hoping will be on his best behavoir!!
I'll be at Hastingwood to on Sunday, although not riding. My friend is doing the Elementary's & has no lorry, so i've said I'll take her. It'll be so nice to be grooming & be able to eat food & chill

There are lots of places to warm up on the grass at wix. Right next to the indoors there is a field (about 1/2 acre) divided by a hedge. I would warm up in there as it is nice a enclosed but the ground can be undulating. Have fun guys I cant go as on hols!

I've seen you out and about before - i think you know Sarah from Buckwyns??
Only putting the poor horse through 2 days of boring dressage (his thoughts) as he was off work a while ago and i've missed a lot of the so called summer! Was a little worried about taking him out 2 days running but he proved in his lesson yesterday that he's more than fit enough to do both!!

Just got my times..... I'm 4pm for the N22.
It starts at 11.30am & finishes at 5.12pm!!!!
Judge is Malcolm Brown.
see you all there
